Panda joins hands with Manhattan Associates to increase SCM efficiency

To increase efficiency at its new Riyadh distribution center, Al-Azizia Panda has struck a deal with supply chain software provider Manhattan Associates. The new facility will use solutions from Manhattan for open systems, slotting optimization, labour management and performance management in the organization. These solutions have the ability to interface with the existing JDA merchandising system.

According to sources, the retailer selected Manhattan because of its experience and understanding of the market.

Panda, with more than 51 stores is the largest food retail chain in Saudi Arabia. The company already has a distribution center in Riyadh but this is being revamped and replaced to support the retailer’s growth strategy.

The food retailer plans to open its first store in Dubai in a few months from now. ITP Technology reports:

The warehouse management and slotting optimization solutions will go live in June 2006, with labor management and performance management to be implemented in a second phase later in the year. RF and voice equipment will also be installed as part of the first phase.
