Discount Dresses, Brought to You by a Better Supply Chain

Supply Chain Management isn’t always about novel and radical cost-cutting measures.  But sometimes the mundane is just as important as the exciting.  Which is why this week I decided to focus your attention on a transaction betwen a national clotheir who is taking some important, if not that exciting steps towards improving their supply chain solutions.

Dress Barn Inc., a leading women’s specialty retailer, recently selected Oracle(r) Retail Merchandising System and Oracle Retail Data Warehouse, to streamline the supply chain management. This is aimed at providing the requisite support for more accurate inventory forecasting, merchandising and price management within its dressbarn division. The enhanced reporting would result in improving sales and cutting costs across the enterprise.

Oracle Retails integrated merchandising solution supports retail operations through one comprehensive data source. It enables the generation of extremely accurate forecasts of consumer demand. This data is then used to achieve better in-season inventory management across the companys stores.

Company sources indicated that the company joined hands with Oracle as they needed a solid IT foundation that would fit well into their retail environment. The move is a critical step in the companys growth plans. CRM Today reports

Dress Barn stores will move to the Oracle Retail Merchandising System from its current legacy systems. The company expects to reduce costs through improved visibility of sales and inventory performance.
